Help CREST secure gas cards
CREST of Martin County is asks for help in securing $25 gas cards to give to volunteers who transport CREST care receivers to appointments in Mankato, Rochester, Sioux Falls or the Twin Cities. If you would like to help in this way, please send a monetary donation with “gas cards” in the memo line to: CREST, 820 Winnebago Avenue, Suite 2, Fairmont, MN 56031. All gifts will be tax-deductible and will help defray the gas expenses of the CREST volunteers who make these long-distance trips. Thank you for caring and for sharing.
Play Café brewing at Fairmont library
Play Café will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the Martin County Library in Fairmont. Enjoy playtime that encourages growth and learning for children ages zero to five and their caregivers. For additional information, contact the Martin County Library in Fairmont at (507) 238-4207.
Teen/Tween After Hours at Fairmont library
Teen/Tween After Hours will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the Martin County Library in Fairmont. Food and activities will be available for children in grades 5 and up. For additional information, contact the Martin County Library in Fairmont at (507) 238-4207.
Safe Routes to School in Fairmont
Safe Routes to School will be on Tuesday, Sept. 30. SRTS provides four safe routes for children to get active by walking and biking to school one day a week during the fall and spring. Children who attend public and parochial elementary schools in Fairmont benefit by exercising with peers in a safe, chaperoned environment. Walkers and bikers are brought to their respective schools by crosswalk guards and adult volunteers along safe routes. The chaperoned routes will begin at the following locations: Route 1, Corner of Day Street and South Orient (7:45 a.m.), Route 2, Begins at the Fairmont Aquatic Park (7:30 a.m.), Route 3 Begins at St Paul Lutheran School Playground (7:40 a.m.) and Route 4 begins at Grace Lutheran Church (7:30 a.m.). The beginning locations of each route are also designated SRTS Safe Zones. Parents are encouraged to use the drop points to promote walking for fitness and avoid the congestion at Fairmont Elementary School.
CER Creative Brushstrokes-Kayak Theme
A creative brushstrokes kayak painting class will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, in the Community Room at the Southern Minnesota Educational Campus in Fairmont. Discover the joy of painting in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with Kandice. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refresh your skills, this class is designed to help students unwind while exploring their creativity. With guided instruction, students will learn basic techniques to bring the canvas to life. Class end time may vary depending on the complexity of the picture. Fee: $39.
