Fairmont’s first Lakefest

The first-annual LakeFest, hosted by the City of Fairmont in partnership with the Imagine Martin Community Information Hub, will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10 at Amber Lake Park in Fairmont. The festival will celebrate the Fairmont five lake, educating the community about the importance keeping them clean. Activities includ bounce houses, prairie ecology bus and live paintings by local artists.

Fairmont’s 50th Threshing Day

Threshing Day will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10 at Heritage Acres at Fairmont. Activities include threshing at 1 p.m., childrens’ games, train and wagon rides and more. For additional information, contact (507) 238-4645.

Marv and Kaat to perform

Marv and Kaat will perform from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10 at the Marina Lodge Lakeside Pub and Provisions in Fairmont. For additional information, contact (507) 235-4990.

The Prairie Star Quilt Guild will meet at 12:30 p.m. for board members and 1:30 p.m. for regular members on Monday, Aug. 11, at the Fairmont Evangelical Covenant Church in Fairmont. Director of the Healing Hearts Housing Inc. Cheri Frank will be the featured speaker. A silent auction will also be held with Sew and Share to follow. Entry day at the fair

The Martin County Fair will begin with entry day from 2 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11 at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont. Open class livestock, 4-H livestock, open class non-livestock and 4-H non-livestock will be submitted and judged. Exhibits will remain on the fairgrounds for viewing from Aug. 11 to Aug. 17. EDA to meet

Economic Development Authority (EDA) will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11 on the second floor of City Hall in Fairmont. For additional information about EDA, visit fairmont.org.
