Fourth of July Boat Parade

The Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce’s second annual Boat Parade will be at 11 a.m. (line up by 10:45 a.m. at the Chain of Lakes Yacht Club) on Friday, July 4, through the east shores of Hall, Budd and Sisseton Lakes in Fairmont.

Fairmont Firework Spectacular

The Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular, brought by the Fairmont Fire Department, will be at around 10:15 p.m. on Friday, July 4. The fireworks can be viewed from various locations in Fairmont, including Wards and Sylvania Park.

Fairmont City Band to play patriotic concert

The Fairmont City Band will perform its fourth concert of the season at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 4, at the Sylvania Park Band Shell. This is the Fairmont City Band’s annual patriotic concert. If rain forces cancellation, patriotic music will be performed on Tuesday, July 8. Intermission entertainment will be by the UCC Men’s Quartet. Visit the official Facebook page for a cancellation notice after 5 p.m. The Interlaken Heritage Days (IHD) Committee operates the concession stand on concert nights. Proceeds go toward IHD festival activities. The Fairmont City Band is always looking for new members. Kiwanis to meet

Early Risers Kiwanis of Fairmont will gather for their weekly breakfast at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, at The Ranch restaurant in Fairmont. A meeting at 6:50 a.m. will follow. The speakers of the meeting will be Sabri Fair and Pat Oman of the Fairmont Energy and Environment Resilience Committee. Sabri Fair, an environment and sustainability planner with Region Nine, will update the members present about the Fairmont Energy and Environment Resilience Committee’s recent activities and various data pertaining to the city of Fairmont. The public is invited to attend.
