First Congregational UCC sells Heavenly Delights
First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont will sell “Heavenly Delights,” tasty treats with bacon, at the Imagine Martin’s Swine Derby from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, outside of The Hub in Fairmont. It is a free will donation. Half of the proceeds will help buy a pig through the Heifer Project.
Ruby’s Pantry Coming to East Chain
Ruby’s Pantry will have a drive-through food distribution from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, at the East Chain Evangelical Free Church. Guests are asked to clean out their car trunks. There are no income or residency guidelines. Ruby’s Pantry is funded by the $25 cash donation per participant for operational costs, and they receive an abundance of food. Fairmont Memorial Day program/parade
A Memorial Day program will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 26, at the Martin County Veterans Memorial in Fairmont. The speaker will be Doug Landsteiner. The ceremony will begin with flag raising by the Sons of American Legion (SAL) at Veterans Park in Fairmont. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park in Fairmont and end at the Martin County Veterans Memorial. The event is arranged by the American Legion Post 36, SAL Squadron 36, Auxiliary Unit 36, Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222, Girl Scouts and Music by Fairmont High School Band and Director Kate Kallenbach.
Sherburn Memorial Day program
A Memorial Day program will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 26, at City Park. The speaker will be Paul Groskreutz Jr. Scouts will serve a picnic in the park after the program for a free-will donation. In case of rain, the program will be held at the MCW High School.
Welcome Memorial Day program
A Memorial Day program will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 26, at the Welcome Legion Hall. The speaker will be Pam Krill.
Truman Memorial Day program
A Memorial Day program will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 26, at the Truman Elementary Auditorium.
East Chain Memorial Day program
East Chain’s 130th Memorial Day observance will be at 9:30 a.m. at the East Chain Activity Center. Coffee and donuts will be served at 8:45 a.m. Following the program, deceased veterans will be honored at the Free Church Cemetery. The 4H Honor Guard will have a wreath and cross ceremony with a firing squad salute and taps. An annual meeting will follow. RRC hosts Memorial Day picnic
The Red Rock Center for the Arts (RRC) will have a Memorial Day Community Picnic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, May 26, at the RRC. RRC will serve pulled pork, hot dogs, baked beans, chips, dessert, coffee, and lemonade. Indoor music is provided by Steve Lang. Outdoors, a petting zoo, barrel rides, face painting, balloon twisting, and more will be available. Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and under. Veterans and Active Military eat free. This event is made possible by the Fairmont American Legion, the Welcome American Legion, and Federated Rural Electric Operation Round Up.
