Kiwanis to meet

Early Risers Kiwanis of Fairmont will gather for their weekly breakfast at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, at The Ranch restaurant in Fairmont. A meeting at 6:50 a.m. will follow. The speaker of the meeting will be Ryan Hauschild of Silo ’67. ER Kiwanis will be learning about Ryan and his journey to Fairmont and Silo 67. The public is invited to attend.

Posture/osteoporosis with Janice Novak

Janice Novak will teach a posture class from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 19, in a Zoom meeting. You’ll learn simple techniques to improve posture and stand straighter. We’ll discuss the latest research findings. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will need a resistance band or tube for some exercises. Thyroid information with Janice Novak

Janice Novak will have an informational class about the thyroid from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, in a Zoom meeting. We’ll discuss the 5 things that need to be measured, but usually aren’t; why the #1 thyroid replacement may not be helping you; foods that help or hinder; commonly misunderstood rules of how and when to take thyroid meds; environmental triggers, and info you need to discuss with your doctor. Spring fishing tournament

The Fairmont Lakes Foundation Inc. will have its annual fishing tournament at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, at Gomsrud Park. Registration can be completed at https://fairmontlakesfoundation.com/product/spring-fishing-tournament-registration.

Blessing of the Bikes

Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and First Congregational United Church of Christ will sponsor the Blessing of the Bikes from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, at the 300 block of Downtown Plaza in Fairmont. Coffee and donuts will be available at 8 a.m., the blessing of the bikes will be at 9 a.m., and the optional 50-mile group ride will be at 9:30 a.m.

Bloat management with Janice Novak

Janice Novak will teach a belly bloat lessening class from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, in a Zoom meeting. In this workshop, you will learn the main causes and six strategies for removing belly bloat. We will do a few exercises to strengthen the deepest layer of abdominal muscles. ‘Just A Normal Concert’ at MLHS

“Just a Normal Concert” will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at the Martin Luther High School in Northrop. The talents of young musicians in the Elementary Band, High School Band and Choir will be featured under the direction of Mr. Phil Schult. Refreshments will be served. Admission is a free-will offering.
