Wednesday coffee at the Chubb House
The historic Chubb House in Fairmont is open from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, April 9 for coffee and more. Stop in to learn more about the first and only brick home in Martin County and the man who built it in 1867 for his family, Dr. Orville P. Chubb. Get acquainted with Fairmont’s rich history and the volunteers who have worked hard to preserve this building. Master Gardener Soil Health Class
A Martin County Master Gardener class on soil health and fertilizers will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Martin County Library in Fairmont. The guest speaker will be Board Conservationist Shane Bugeja, who will discuss “Getting Your Soil Ready for a Successful Garden in 2025”. Individual soil samples can be sent to the University of Minnesota for testing before or following the class. Aktion Club to rehearse Thursday

HRC to meet Thursday
The Human Rights Committee of Martin County will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday,
Apr. 10 at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Fairmont. The group strives to encourage respect and maintain dignity for all the residents of Martin County. All are welcome to join.
Lower body exercise with Janice Novak
Janice Novak will teach a lower body strengthening class from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 14, in a Zoom meeting. In this workshop, you will learn: my famous ’10 Minute Miracle Exercise’ series to strengthen lower body muscles, increase metabolism and bone density, decrease two inches off saddlebag area in two weeks, trim inches off lower body by getting rid of excess water weight, breathing technique to stimulate fat metabolism, acupressure points for lymph circulation and drainage. Students will need a resistance band, tied in a loop for exercises. Registration is required, costs $29, closes April 10, and can be completed on the CER webstore. 4-H courses for youth
4-H lessons for children in grades 3 to 5 will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. April 17, 18, 21, and an optional date from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on April 22 in Room 135 at the Southern Minnesota Educational Campus in Fairmont. This course will introduce youth to the wide range of 4-H project areas through hands-on activities. At the end of the course, youth will have explored a variety of art forms and 4-H project areas and be allowed to enter their projects into the Martin County Fair to be judged. Isabelle Zellmer of Fairmont is a business management major and has received the Paseka School of Business Scholarship for $1,500 and the University Scholarship for $10,000 from Minnesota State University-Moorhead. Isabelle is a graduate of Fairmont High School.
