Service club to hold weekly meeting

The Fairmont Service Club will hold its weekly meeting at noon on Tuesday, Oct, 15 at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont. The featured speaker will be Britney Kawecki, owner of the “Bed and Biscuits” dog boarding business. Guests are always welcome to attend. CREST to focus on pumpkins

The next CREST Lunch & Learn events will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, Oct. 14 at the CREST office (820 Winnebago Avenue, Fairmont) and on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at First Lutheran Church (61 Apple Street East, Trimont). Joyce Peterson will present the program and will share information about pumpkins, host a pumpkin decorating contest, and play some games. A lunch with ham balls, squash, cranberry wild rice bread, and a dessert of homemade apple sauce and Schmidt’s Bakery “Pumpkin Cookies” will be served following the presentation. The topics and menu are subject to change. If interested in attending, RSVP to the CREST office by calling (507) 235-3833. This activity is open to all seniors in Martin County and a free-will donation is always welcome.

Prairie Star Quilt Guild to meet on Monday

The Prairie Star Quilt Guild will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, at the Fairmont Evangelical Covenant Church (901 Woodland Ave, Fairmont). Regular membership will be a road trip to Michele’s Quilting and Sewing Center in Blue Earth. Members will meet in the upper parking lot at 1:00 p.m. and leave at 1:30 p.m. to car-pool to Blue Earth.
