Human Rights Committee to meet Thursday

Martin County’s Human Rights Committee will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, at the St. Martin’s Episcopal Church (102 North Park Street) in Fairmont. The committee strives to encourage respect and maintain dignity for all the residencies in Martin County. All residents are welcome to join the meeting.

Service Club to hold weekly meeting

The Fairmont Service Club will hold its weekly meeting at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont. Club member, Marlys Rodgers, will share memories of her cousin, Armonds’ time as a Prisoner of War in the Pacific conflict. Guests are always welcome.

Hy-Vee to host special grill-out

Hy-Vee Grocery was recently awarded the title, ‘Number One Grocery Store in America’ for its ‘superior service and commitment to quality’, according to USA TODAY. Fairmont Hy-Vee will honor this achievement by holding a Customer Appreciation Grill Out, a free event for the Fairmont community and Hy-Vee patrons, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. The event will provide a free burger, hotdog, chips and water while supplies last.

Fairmont football tailgate tonight

The Booster Club will host a tailgate party at 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. tonight, Oct. 4, by the Mahoney Field on Fairmont High School (FHS) grounds, before the football game against Marshall. Food served will include turkey sandwiches, macaroni salad, chips, cookie, and a beverage. The entire meal is $7. This event is sponsored by Hawkins Chevrolet.
