Astronomy event at the Fairmont Municipal Airport

The Martin County in Fairmont is teaming up with the Minnesota Astronomical Society and will bring an event including telescope viewing and a presentation at 7 pm, Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Fairmont Municipal Airport. The presentation will preface the star and telescope viewing when the sky darkens. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age. Future attendants are encouraged to dress warm, bring a blanket, or bring a lawn chair to the event. Should the weather be uncooperative, the backup date of the event is 7 pm, Friday, Sept. 27. Ruby’s Pantry to hold food distribution in East Chain

Ruby’s Pantry will have a food distribution event in East Chain from 10-11 am on Saturday, Sept. 28 located at the East Chain Evangelical Free Church in rural town. The food distribution will be conducted by drive-through procedure and food receipts are not permitted to leave their car. Guests are asked to thoroughly clean the trunk of their car before they arrive. There are no income or residency guidelines. Ruby’s Pantry is funded by a $25 cash donation per participant for operational costs. Truman High School to ease Red Cross emergency blood shortage

The American Red Cross will have a blood drive from 11 am to 4 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 9th, hosted at the Truman High School’s elementary activity room. The need for blood is urgent, and the American Red Cross has announced an emergency blood shortage, mobilizing donors across the country to give blood. For every donation, the blood given treats 2-3 patients in life-saving blood transfusions. To make an appointment for this date, visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter ‘TRUMANHSMN’ in the search bar. Early Risers to hear from guest speaker

Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will be inviting the public to join them for breakfast at 6:30 am on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at The Ranch restaurant.
