Church plans free meal on Wednesday
First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont will offer a free community meal beginning 5:30 p.m. until the food is gone on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at their church located at 319 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont. The meal, served by the church worship board, will consist of hearty harvest soup, bread, bars, milk, coffee and water. Everyone is welcome.
CREST to offer pillow cleaning
CREST will host the Carlson Pillow Cleaning Service from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in the lower level of the Evangelical Covenant Church, 901 Woodland Ave. in Fairmont. Pillows will be fluffed, cleaned, deodorized and sanitized while customers wait, or people may come back to pick up pillows later in the day. The service includes new ticking for pillows. Custom-made new pillows and down comforters will be available for sale. Participants are asked to bring pillows in garbage bags. All proceeds from this event will benefit the CREST organization as they strive to enhance the quality of life for those they serve in Martin County. For more information, call (507) 235-3833.
BEA to hold conferences Thursday
Parent-student-teacher conferences for Blue Earth Area High School students in grades 8-12 will be held virtually and in-person from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. Students and parents can use the link ‘Conferences Sign Up’ for times to meet with teachers. Please be sure to indicate whether you will be attending virtually or in person when you sign up. Teachers will be located in their classrooms. Students are encouraged to attend conferences along with their parents, or alone if parents are unable to attend. The entire staff and administration want to encourage attendance because parent-student-teacher conferences make a big difference in the academic success of each student. Also, Mrs. Holland, student success coordinator for BEA, will host a virtual presentation about college and career planning from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, via Google Meet. Nancy Sprengeler, director of Educational Talent Search, will be the guest speaker.
Heritage Acres to meet Thursday
Heritage Acres will meet 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in the Prairieville building at 507 Lake Ave. in Fairmont. This will be the last meeting before the Harvest Festival on Oct. 20. After a light supper there will be the secretary and treasurer’s reports, followed by Jerry Simon, president, who will review the planned events and job assignments for the Harvest Festival. All members and the public are invited to attend.
