Sports club to host trap-shooting event

The East Chain Sportsman’s Club will be holding a trap-shooting event beginning at 12 pm on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the club’s grounds located a half-mile north of East Chain on 254th Avenue. All trap shooters are welcome to partake in shooting ranges, shooting rounds, 16 yards, 25 yards, boondocks oakleys, and the shooter’s choice. The grill will be on all day for meals. Grace Lutheran Church offers mission apple pies

Grace Lutheran Church of Fairmont will host it’s annual Apple Pie Bake event for missions. Pies are available for a donation of $15 for one pie, or a donation of $40 for three pies. Selection of pies include unbaked or baked, and regular or crumb crust. Pies may be pre-ordered by picking up an order form from 9 am-3 pm, Monday through Thursday, at the GLC office, located at 300 South Grant Street, Fairmont. Pies may also be ordered by contacting (507) 235-3090 with details of your desired order. Pies will be distributed to donors at 12-2:30 pm on Saturday, Sept. 28, or at 8am-12pm on Sunday, September, 29.

St. John Vianney celebrates arrival of autumn

St. John Vianney (SJV) will have their annual Fall Fest, prefacing the festivities at 10 am with mass, and the fest beginning officially at 10:30 am-3 pm, Sunday, Sept. 22, located on church grounds at 911 South Prairie Avenue in Fairmont. Activities include live acoustics by Heart Song, Steve Lang, and Bob Petrowiak, vendor and craft shows, diverse selections of food and beverage vendors and trucks, and more attractions for the whole family. Library encourages children to shop local farmers’ market

The Martin County Library of Fairmont will be offering an activity for children to shop for local produce and goods at the Fairmont Farmers’ Market, from 9 am-12 pm on Saturday, Sept. 21 located at the Five Lakes Centre parking lot. Michele of the library will be joining the children as they explore the market. Pre-registration is not required, and there is no fee to attend. Library invites community into the art of paper-making

Paper Plains invites attendants into a new workshop to create paper from regionally-harvested invasive plant species at 1pm on Friday, Sept. 20 at the Martin County Library. Leaders of the workshop will demonstrate techniques and share history about invasive plants growing in Minnesota. Participants will understand the uniqueness of paper-making and take part of the Minnesota Great Plains with them as they create their project. The tools needed for this activity is adaptable to everyone, regardless of age or abilities. Pre-registration is not required, and there is no fee to attend. The workshop is made possible by with a grant from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund of the Minnesota Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment through the Traverse des Sioux Library System.
