Red Rock Center for the Arts will host their monthly open art studio day from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at 222 E. Blue Earth Ave. in Fairmont. This month’s theme is Back to School. Drop in to make some fun projects for toddlers to tweens.

Service Club to meet Tuesday

The Fairmont Service Club will hold its next weekly meeting noon Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Best Western in Fairmont. Featured speaker will be Ms. Jordan Niles from Martin/Faribault County Human Services, who will give an overview of the “Stronger Together” program. Guests are always welcome. Chubb House holds Wednesday coffee

The public is invited to join Chubb House committee members for coffee and treats beginning 10 a.m. every Wednesday morning at the Chubb House, 209 Lake Ave. in Fairmont. Stop by each Wednesday and appreciate one of Fairmont’s historical treasures.

CER to offer upcoming community activity

Fairmont Community Education & Recreation (CER) will offer an upcoming community activity.

Friends and Fiction Book Club will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in Suite 131 at the Southern MN Educational Campus (SMEC), 115 S. Park St. in Fairmont. Do you love reading books and wish you could talk to someone about your latest read? Are you a former teacher or current teacher and want to read more consistently? Or are you someone looking for suggestions for great books and want to talk about them? Bring your passion for literature and join Cyndi Johnson and Sara Gudahl for their Book Club for ages 18+ Several different genres will be selected. Registration closes for each month one week prior to that month’s meeting. The moderators have a book list but suggestions will be taken. Purchase the book for each month and bring it with you. Fee: $5/month.

On Sept. 18, theywill discuss the teacher and will begin reading By Any Other Name by Jodi Picoult (ambition, courage, and desire centers two women who are determined to create something beautiful despite the prejudices they face) You will need to purchase this book.
