Chubb House holds Wednesday coffee
The public is invited to join Chubb House committee members for coffee and treats beginning 10 a.m. every Wednesday morning at the Chubb House, 209 Lake Ave. in Fairmont. Stop by each Wednesday and appreciate one of Fairmont’s historical treasures.
CER to offer upcoming community activities
Fairmont Community Education & Recreation (CER) will offer two upcoming community activities. First, Adult Basic Education/Ged preparation classes will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Sept. 3 and 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays beginning Sept. 4, in room 210 at the Southern MN Educational Campus, 115 S. Park St. in Fairmont. Get your GED. Develop goals with an instructor in an informal atmosphere at these free classes. Strengthen skills in GED exam preparation, access needs, take GED pretests, math and communication skills. Gain confidence in taking tests, completing job applications, computer skills, preparing a resume and more. Distance learning opportunities available through ‘GED Academy’ for online GED prep. Next, a Learning English Language for Adults class for all levels will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 11, in room 210 at the Southern MN Educational Campus, 115 S. Park St. in Fairmont. Learn skills In conversing, reading, writing, computer knowledge and understanding American culture. Pre-registration with payment is requested at Fairmont CER located at Suite 131 on the Southern MN Educational Campus (SMEC), 115 S. Park St. in Fairmont.
