Early Risers set Wednesday meeting

Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will meet for breakfast and an informative talk Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Ranch Restaurant, Fairmont. Featured speaker will be Bryan Kastning, Fairmont Fire Chief. Breakfast starts at 6:30 a.m., with the meeting getting underway at 6:50 a.m. The public is invited. Join them for breakfast and a wonderful talk from Bryan.

Worship in the Park Wednesday in Fairmont

“Worship in the Park,” sponsored by Grace Lutheran Church, invites you to worship with them beginning 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Sylvania Park in Fairmont. The public is welcome. Bring a friend.

Music concert Friday at the Fair

Richie Lee & the Fabulous 50’s, sponsored by the Red Rock Center for the Arts, will take center stage at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, in the arena at the Martin County Fair. Richie will take you back to the roots of Rock ‘n’ Roll history wrapped up into a high energy show. The music will sound just as it did back then. The band does their absolute best to stay true to the original sound of the songs. This is a free concert with paid admission to the Martin County Fair. A free well donation will be accepted to help the Red Rock Center for the Arts.

Quilt Expo this weekend in Blue Earth

The 40th annual Quilt Expo will be held 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at Blue Earth Area High School in Blue Earth. There will be hundreds of quilts, a bed turning, vendors and more. This year’s featured quilter is Karen Hougen of Blue Earth and Mike Ellingson will speak and present a trunk show at 2 p.m. on Saturday. This year’s sponsors are CCFBANK, Calico Hutch Quilt Shop of Hayward, Old Alley Quilt Shop in Sherburn, Michele’s Quilting & Sewing Center and Heartland Embroidery in Blue Earth and Heartland Retreat & Rental Hall of Elmore.
