Sundaes in the Park cancelled this weekend

The Aug. 11th Sundaes in the Park in Trimont featuring Steve Lang has been cancelled. The next Sundaes in the Park will be held Aug. 18 with the Armstrong Boulevard Brass Quintet headlining the event.

Service Club to meet Tuesday

The Fairmont Service Club will hold its next weekly meeting noon Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the Best Western in Fairmont. Featured speaker will be author, Patrick Garry, who will discuss his book “The Power of Gratitude,” a tribute to his parents, Michael and Elizabeth Garry. Guests are always welcome. The public is invited to join Chubb House committee members for coffee and treats beginning 10 a.m. every Wednesday morning at the Chubb House, 209 Lake Ave. in Fairmont. Stop by each Wednesday and appreciate one of Fairmont’s historical treasures.

Jackson County Library System book sale upcoming

The Jackson County Friends of the Library annual book sale will be held Sept. 12-14 in the blue building at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Jackson, Minn. Proceeds from the event will provide supplemental funds for programs, materials and other extras for the Jackson, Lakefield and Heron Lake libraries. Hours of the sale will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. On Saturday, book lovers will be able to fill a bag with books for just $3 and beginning at noon on Saturday, those who help box up the leftover books can take books for free. A presale for Friends of the Library members will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11. Anyone can become eligible for the presale by joining the Jackson County Friends of the Library, either in advance or at the sale. The cost for membership is $2 for students, $10 for individuals or $15 per household, with additional sponsorships set at $100 for a patron and $200 for a benefactor. Checks can either be dropped off at one of the three libraries in Heron Lake, Jackson or Lakefield or mailed to 311 3rd St., Jackson, MN 56143.
