Service Club to meet Tuesday

The Fairmont Service Club will hold its next weekly meeting noon Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Best Western in Fairmont. Featured speaker will be Lenny Tvedten, director of Martin County Historical Society. Guests are always welcome. With questions, call Ken Detloff at (507) 236-4298.

Chubb House holds Wednesday coffee

The public is invited to join Chubb House committee members for coffee and treats beginning 10 a.m. every Wednesday morning at the Chubb House, 209 Lake Ave. in Fairmont. Stop by each Wednesday and appreciate one of Fairmont’s historical treasures.

Summer Shindig at the Fairmont Library

Join library staff for an all-ages event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the Fairmont Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. Enjoy live, interactive music by Andrea Lynn and a petting zoo. Food trucks from Pizza Ranch, O’Scoops Ice Cream and Illegal Amigos Mexican Food, will have food available for purchase. Please come to celebrate summer fun. Part of this program is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. Human Rights Committee sets Thursday meeting

The Human Rights Committee of Martin County will meet 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 102 N. Park St. in Fairmont. Following the guidelines from the nationally respected Minnesota Department of Human Rights, they strive to encourage respect and maintain dignity for all the residencies of Martin County. All are welcome to join them.
