Library plans events next week
Martin County Library will offer events next week. First, join library staff for Classic Movie Monday beginning 1 p.m. Monday, July 22, at the Fairmont Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. They will show “The Moon Spinners” (1964). Popcorn and water will be served. Next, join library staff for a magic show featuring ‘Greg the Great’ at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, at the Fairmont Library. Also, join library staff for Family Friday starting 2 p.m. Friday, July 26 at the Fairmont Library. There will be lots of fun family friendly activities. Heritage Acres to hold meeting
The July meeting of Heritage Agricultural Interpretive Center will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, July 25, in the Prairieville building. This is their annual potluck dinner so bring a dish to pass. After the secretary and treasurer’s reports, president, Jerry Simon, will review the events and volunteer jobs for Threshing Day on Aug. 11. All members and the public are invited to attend.
Summer Run next Saturday in Fairmont
Come join the 45th annual Fairmont Summer Run coordinated by Fairmont Community Education & Recreation (CER) and the Fairmont Area Runners. Once again, the headquarters for this year’s run is at Fairmont High School, Field House. The races will be run on quiet streets and asphalt trails. All races will start and finish at Bob Bonk Track at Fairmont High School. The 5-mile run starts at 8:30 a.m., the 2-mile run starts at 9:30 a.m., 1/4 mile run (9 & under) starts at 10 a.m., 1/2 mile run (13 & under) starts at 10:05 a.m. Awards ceremony will be at 10:15 a.m. Race Day registration at Fairmont High School will begin 7:30 a.m. and close 10 minutes prior to each race. Pre-registration closes at noon Friday, July 26. Early registration guarantees a shirt. For further information, call (507) 235-3141.
Golf fundraiser Aug. 5 at Rose Lake
The annual Martin County Humane Society golf fundraiser will be held 4 p.m. Aug. 5, at Rose Lake Golf Club, just east of Fairmont. This will be a 9-hole, best-ball event with a shotgun start. The cost is $70 which includes golf, golf cart, taco bar dinner and lots of great prizes. Please sign up before Friday, July 26 by calling (507) 238-1885 or emailing pawprints01@hotmail.com. You may also contact them if you would like to support this fundraiser with prize donations or silent auction items. All proceeds benefit the paws at Martin County Humane Society.
