American Legion Auxiliary plans Tuesday meeting
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 36 of Fairmont will meet 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at 300 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont. All members and those interested are encouraged to attend.
Chubb House holds Wednesday coffee
The public is invited to join Chubb House committee members for coffee and treats beginning 10 a.m. every Wednesday morning at the Chubb House, 209 Lake Ave. in Fairmont. Stop by each Wednesday and appreciate one of Fairmont’s historical treasures.
CER to offer upcoming community activities
Fairmont Community Education & Recreation (CER) will offer two upcoming community activities. First, I-90 Boys Basketball Camps, for kids in grades pre-K through 6th grade, will be held Monday to Thursday, July 15-18, in the Little Cardinal Gym at Fairmont Elementary School, 714 Victoria St. in Fairmont. Those in pre-k to 1st grade will be held 1-1:45 p.m., grades 2-3 will be held 2-3 p.m. and grades 4-6 will be held 3:15-4:45 p.m. Participants will be working on the fundamental skills of shooting, dribbling, and passing. They will be introduced to 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 basketball. Players should wear gym shoes, socks, t-shirts and shorts for comfort. Shorts included. Registration closes June 28. Next, Grand Prix-RC Car Racing, for youth entering grades 3-5, will be held 9-10:30 a.m. Monday to Thursday, July 15-18, in the south gym at Fairmont Jr/Sr High School. Design your own racetrack. The group will use engineering techniques to work together and build a new indoor or outdoor racetrack with ramps, hairpin curves and speedy straightaways. Then we use remote control cars and race the track. Registration closes July 8. For any further questions, call CER at (507) 235-3141.
