Service Club to meet Tuesday

The Fairmont Service Club will hold its next weekly meeting noon Tuesday, June 18, at the Best Western in Fairmont. Featured speaker will be Rich Bradley, chairman of Citizens for a Strong Fairmont. Guests are always welcome. With questions, call Lorin Pollock at (507) 230-4800.

Books and Brews Thursday at Fairmont Library

Join library staff for Books and Brews Morning Edition beginning 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Fairmont Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. Staff will highlight books that have gone from “page to screen.” Bring your coffee and join in. There is no cost to attend this event and no registration is required. St. James railroad club extends invitation

The non-profit Roundhouse Model Railroad Club, which promotes the model railroad hobby, will be open during Railroad Days from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 22 and 1-5 p.m. June 23 at the club located at 307 Tiell Drive, St. James. Guests will view the club’s different gauge layouts and a children’s Lionel layout that the kids can operate themselves. Admission is free. The club meets regularly from 7-9 p.m. Thursdays and 1-7 p.m. Saturdays. Meetings are open to visitors and potential new members.
