Red Rock plans Saturday kids event

Red Rock Center for the Arts will host a special lHD edition of Kidcasso, an open art studio experience for kids, from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at 222 E. Blue Earth Ave. in Fairmont. There is an extra special project for the first 30 kids. The fee is $5 per artist. Come, get creative.

Prairie Star Quilters to hold meeting

Prairie Star Quilt Guild will hold its next meeting Monday, June 10, at Fairmont Evangelical Covenant Church, 901 Woodland Ave., Fairmont. The quilt board will meet at 12:30 p.m., followed by a general membership meeting at 1:30 p.m. Karen Lester will speak about dyeing fabric and fibers. Sew and share will follow the meeting. The evening group will meet 5:30 p.m. at Jake’s Pizza. Anyone interested in this group are welcome. For more information, contact guild president, Elisa Kotewa at (507) 236-3144.

Service Club to meet Tuesday

The Fairmont Service Club will hold its next weekly meeting noon Tuesday, June 11 at the Best Western in Fairmont. Featured speaker will be Weston Loughmiller, who will talk about his experiences as an LBS missionary for the Hmong people. Guests are always welcome. Historical Society plans Tuesday program

A video presentation featuring the military experiences of Veryl Champine will be shown 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Pioneer Museum in Fairmont. There is no charge and the public is invited to attend.

Chubb House holds Wednesday coffee

The public is invited to join Chubb House committee members for coffee and treats beginning 10 a.m. every Wednesday morning at the Chubb House, 209 Lake Ave. in Fairmont. Stop by each Wednesday and appreciate one of Fairmont’s historical treasures.

College News:

The following area students graduated and were awarded degrees, certificates and honors following the 2024 spring semester at Winona State University in Winona, Minn.: Fairmont — Emily Lyle, bachelor’s degree in teaching-early childhood education-newborn to age 3 (summa cum laude); Hailey Meyers, graduate certificate in mental health-schools and organizations.
