3M employees, past and present, will meet for lunch noon Tuesday, June 4, at the Green Mill Restaurant in Fairmont.

CREST “Lunch & Learn” Wednesday in Sherburn

The 1975 murder of Joann Bontjes in Martin County has never been solved but law enforcement officials are keeping the case open with the help of some outside assistance. The next CREST Lunch & Learn will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Senior Citizens Center, 21 E. 1st Street in Sherburn. The program will feature retired St. James police chief Don Mickelson, who has been researching the case for many years and has helped local officials get closer to solving it. A lunch of meatballs, scalloped potatoes and a rhubarb dessert will follow the program. If you plan to attend this event, please RSVP the CREST office by calling (507) 235-3833. This activity is open to seniors in Martin County and a free-will donation is always welcome.

Garden Club plans Wednesday meeting

City of Lakes Garden Club of Fairmont will meet next at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at 1320 Lucia Ave. in Fairmont. Note: Please take note of the special meeting time. Visitors and new members are always welcome, but please call or text Leslie Walkowiak at (651) 895-6578 ahead of time to RSVP your attendance. There will be a business meeting followed by an informative report. Our overall theme for this year is Methods of Gardening/Visitors to the Garden. June’s topic will be Methods of Gardening “Minnesota Water Garden Tours.” The purpose of the organization is to encourage all forms of horticulture in the home and community. Meetings are open to visitors and new members but please RSVP your attendance to Leslie so adequate accommodations can be made. Fairmont class of 1961 to lunch

Fairmont High School class of 1961, spouses and friends, will meet for lunch 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Pizza Ranch in Fairmont. All classmates are encouraged to attend.

Community worship Wednesdays in Fairmont

Grace Lutheran Church of Fairmont will host community worship from 6:30-7 p.m. each Wednesday through Sept. 4, in the bandshell at Sylvania Park in Fairmont. They will have a live worship band along with messages of faith and hope from area pastors and community members. In case of rain, they will hold this service in the shelter house at Sylvania Park. Everyone is welcome.
