Paddle Friends to launch tonight
Those involved in the paddling friends group will meet 6 p.m. tonight, May 28, at the dock area on Lake Aires Road on the south end of Fairmont. The group will launch into Amber Lake and will try their tradition of going through the culvert to Mud and Bardwell Lakes. Come to paddle and stay around for a bit afterwards to reconnect with other paddlers. Bring your own beverage.
Early Risers set Wednesday meeting
Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will meet for breakfast and an informative talk at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, at the Ranch Restaurant, Fairmont. Featured speaker will be Brittany Hartman, Executive Director of Visit Fairmont. The public is invited to come for breakfast and hear an interesting talk from Brittany.
Kids Fishing Derby this Saturday in Fairmont
Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont, along with the Bass Seekers Chapter of Fairmont, are once again holding a “Kids All American Fishing Derby.” This free event will be held Saturday, June 1, at Gomsrud Park in Fairmont. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the contest beginning at 9 a.m. and running until 12 p.m. (noon). Participants ranging in ages from under 5 to 16 years of age will be participating in fishing as well as a casting contest for prizes. Area business have donated money to purchase prizes and snacks for all attending. There will be a limited amount of bait available. We do ask that all younger children be accompanied by an adult.
