Help sought for placing of flags

Fairmont American Legion Post 36 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222 will be placing American flags on veterans’ graves Saturday, May 25, at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. If you would like to volunteer, plan on meeting at the Lakeside Cemetery office by 7 a.m. All ages are welcome to assist and will be grouped with map readers at the cemetery office. Coffee and rolls for all who participate that morning will be served afterwards at the American Legion Post, 300 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont. Volunteers will be needed to retrieve the flags the day after Memorial Day.

Ruby’s Pantry plans distribution

Ruby’s Pantry will hold a food distribution from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at the East Chain Evangelical Free Church, located at 507 280th Ave., rural East Chain. This will be conducted in a drive-through process. Participants will not have to get out of their cars. Participants are also asked to clean out the trunk of their vehicle prior to the event. There are no income or residency guidelines. Ruby’s Pantry is funded by the $25 cash donation per participant for operational costs. Jayden Koskovich Juba, 2016 graduate of Fairmont, received her Masters of Education degree on May 11, from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

Kelsey Ahrens of Blue Earth received a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Arts and Sciences during commencement exercises May 3, 17 and 18 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Lincoln, Neb.
