Garden Club sets Wednesday meeting
City of Lakes Garden Club of Fairmont will hold its next meeting 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 462 E. Amber Lake Dr. in Fairmont. Meetings are open to visitors and new members but please RSVP your attendance to Leslie so adequate accommodations can be made. After the business meeting there will be an informative presentation on “Making a Bee Skep.” The purpose of the organization is to encourage all forms of horticulture in the home and community. Volunteer readers needed for ‘A Christmas Carol’
“A Christmas Carol” was published in 1843.” Reading the story is fun. It is not the play but a chance to read the unabridged work of Charles Dickens. Each reader will read from the text for a few pages, then the next reader. Come to the next practice reading at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the Red Rock Center for the Arts, 222 E. Blue Earth Ave. in Fairmont. The event itself will take place in December at the Red Rock Center. Donations will be given to the Red Rock Center for the Arts. All ages welcome. Harry Potter book trivia at Fairmont Brewery
Join Martin County Library staff as they host Harry Potter book trivia beginning 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Fairmont Brewing Company. Work solo or in pairs to see who knows the most. There is no cost to attend and registration is not required. Drinks are available for purchase at the event. With questions, call the library at (507) 238-4207.
Gala event Friday in Fairmont
A gala event will be held Friday, Nov. 3, at the Fairmont Event Center (Green Mill), 1201 Torgerson Dr. in Fairmont. This event is a fundraiser for St. Paul Lutheran School in Fairmont and the St. Paul Lutheran LWML (Lutheran Womens Missionary League). The theme of the gala is “Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart.” The fun will begin at 4:30 p.m. There will be games such as heads and tails, ring toss and a dessert dash. A delicious meal will be served between the silent and live auctions. Some of the items are MN Wild tickets, a quilt, wooden model combine, other handmade items and a laser cut metal bench. Cost of a ticket is $50 and can be purchased by contacting Pat Hall at (507) 236-4921 or the church office at (507) 238-9491. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Tickets are limited.
