Service Club to hold Tuesday meeting

Fairmont Service Club will meet noon Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont. The program this week will feature Corey Klanderud from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. Church plans free meal on Wednesday

First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont will offer a free community meal beginning 5:30 p.m. until the food is gone Wednesday, Oct. 25, at their church located at 319 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont. The church Diaconate Board will serve the meal consisting of chili, crackers, garlic bread, applesauce, bars and cookies and beverages. Everyone is welcome.

CREST new volunteer training set next Thursday

There will be a training session for anyone that is interested in becoming a CREST volunteer and the opportunity to meet seniors and brighten their lives. The training will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at the CREST offices, located at 820 Winnebago Ave., Suite 2 in Fairmont. CREST volunteers provide “Live in Home Services” such as friendly visiting, telephone reassurance, home helper, minor home repair, transportation, and respite care. Your time with area seniors will make a difference in their lives and enhance yours as well.

The need for volunteers at CREST continues to grow, so if you’re looking for something interesting to do and touch the lives of those you help please give the CREST office a call at (507) 235-3833 and request a volunteer registration form. Fill it out and then bring it to the volunteer training on Thursday, Oct. 26.

Martin County Library to host art classes

Create your own mosaic art at this special event at the Fairmont Library. Registration is required. Choose to attend from either 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26 or 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at the Martin County Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. Each class is three hours and you will make a mosaic to take home. This program is for teens and adults. Call the library at (507) 238-4207 to register. This program is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
