Service Club to hold Tuesday meeting

Fairmont Service Club will meet noon Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont. The program this week will feature Jayden Fritz and Tray Lazona from Fairmont Head Start. Spice of Life meeting Thursday in Fairmont

CREST’s “Spice of Life” program is where persons living with Alzheimer’s/Dementia and their caregiver come together with others and enjoy a fun time. This month will be a creative activity decorating pumpkins and eating pumpkin treats. Spice of Life will take place 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at 820 Winnebago Ave. in Fairmont. There is no charge for this event, but RSVP’s are encouraged by calling (507) 235-3833. Hope to see you there.

Martin Luther to host annual rummage sale

The annual fall rummage and bake sale will be held Thursday, Oct. 19 through Saturday, Oct. 21 at Martin Luther Jr/Sr High School in Northrop. Sale hours are 4-8 p.m. Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday ($3 bag sale). Donations of fall and winter clothing in good condition and household items will be accepted beginning Saturday, Oct. 14 until noon Oct. 18. They welcome garden produce and plants also. They will have youth and adult clothing, shoes, books, furniture, toys, household and many other miscellaneous items for sale. There also will be baked goods to purchase. The public is invited.

CER to offer upcoming community activities

Fairmont Community Education & Recreation (CER) will offer two upcoming community activities. First, Archery I, for grades 5 through adult, will be held 6-7 p.m. Oct. 24, 25, 26, 27 and 30, at Fairmont Jr/Sr High School, 900 Johnson St. in Fairmont. This course is for youth and adults who are interested in archery but don’t know where to begin. Students will learn about safety, equipment, shooting fundamentals, marksmanship and sportsmanship. The fee is $41. Registration closes October 17. Next, Archery II, for grades 5 through adult, will be held 7-8 p.m. Oct. 24, 25, 26, 27 and 30, at Fairmont Jr/Sr High School. This course is for youth and adults who have completed Archery I and would like to work on their shooting fundamentals and marksmanship. It will include scoring and challenging archery games. The shooting distance will be increased as the archer improves their accuracy. The fee is $41. Registration closes October 17. For any further questions, call CER at (507) 235-3141.
