Service Club to hold Tuesday meeting

Fairmont Service Club will meet noon Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont. The program this week will feature Rick Ash, CEO of United Hospital District (UHD) in Blue Earth. Blood drive Wednesday in Truman

There will be an American Red Cross blood donation opportunity in our area next week. The blood drive will be held 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the elementary activity room at Truman High School, 401 E. 1st St. S. in Truman. To make an appointment and to register, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or go online at www.redcrossblood.org and enter TRUMANHSMN. Donors of all blood types are needed. Give blood if you are able as in doing so, you could save up to three lives. Those who donate blood between Oct. 1 and Oct. 20 can receive a $15 Amazon.com gift card by email. See rcblood/together.

End of life planning Wednesday at Jackson County libraries

Join Jackson County Library System staff to learn about end of life planning with Joel LaCanne from the LaCanne Celebration of Life Center. This program will be an interactive time to pre plan for your final wishes and discuss topics such as power of attorney, wills and health care directives. This free monthly adult program will be held noon Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Jackson Library, 2 p.m. at the Lakefield Library and 5:30 p.m. at the Heron Lake Library. Registration is not required for this program. Please call or stop in to your local library for more information. Program plans are subject to change.

Human Rights Committee sets Thursday meeting

The Human Rights Committee of Martin County will meet 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 102 N. Park St. in Fairmont. Following guidelines from the nationally respected Minnesota Department of Human Rights, they strive to encourage respect and to maintain dignity for all the residencies of Martin County. Anyone is welcome to join them.

Class of 1962 to lunch

Fairmont High School class of 1962, spouses and friends, will meet for lunch 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Pizza Ranch in Fairmont. All classmates are encouraged to come out.

Great Puzzle Race at Truman Library

Put together a team of four adults and join the race. The great puzzle race will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Truman Library, 101 E. Ciro St. in Truman. See which team can complete their matching puzzle with the fastest time. There is no cost to attend this event, but registration is required.
