Sportsman Club sets shooting event
East Chain Sportsman's Club will hold a trap shoot event beginning noon Sunday, Sept. 24, at the club located a half-mile north of East Chain. They will be shooting practice rounds, then 16-yard and 25-yard Oakley's and Boondocks. The grill will be on all day. For more information, contact Moby at (507) 236-4189. Everyone is welcome.
Talamantes benefit Sunday in Imogene
A benefit for the Juan Talamantes family (Juan, Kiley, Angie Kuenle) will be held 2-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, at Ghost Town Tavern in Imogene. Funds raised will be used to defray medical costs and other bills. There will be burgers with all the fixings, sweet corn, coleslaw and bottled water. The meal will be a free will offering. There will also be silent auction items and music. If you can't make the event, donations are being accepted at Ghost Town or you can contact Rhonda Hines by calling (507) 236-1198. Come and help support the Talamantes family.
Service Club to hold Tuesday meeting
Fairmont Service Club will meet noon Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont. The program this week will feature Jerry Simon, president of Fairmont Heritage Acres. Church plans free meal on Wednesday
First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont will offer a free community meal beginning 5:30 p.m. until the food is gone Wednesday, Sept. 27, at their church located at 319 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont. The church Christian Education Board and Sunday School families will serve the meal consisting of spaghetti, salad, cookies and water. Everyone is welcome.
CREST to offer pillow cleaning
CREST will host Carlson Pillow Cleaning Service from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 901 Woodland Ave. in Fairmont. Pillows will be fluffed, cleaned, deodorized and sanitized while customers wait, or people may come back to pick up pillows later in the day. The service includes new ticking for pillows. Custom-made new pillows and down comforters will be available for sale. Participants are asked to bring pillows in garbage bags. All proceeds from this event will benefit the CREST organization. Heritage Acres sets Thursday meeting
Heritage Acres will hold its next meeting 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, in the Prairieville building. After a light supper, there will be a review of meeting minutes, the treasurer's report and an update by president, Jerry Simon. This will be the last meeting prior to the Fall Festival on Oct. 15, so it's important to contribute to the final planning as volunteers are needed to set up, occupy buildings, work in the kitchen and donate desserts (mainly pies). All members and the public are invited to attend.
