Bake sale fundraiser Saturday

Martin County Humane Society will hold a bake sale fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Fleet & Farm Supply Ace Hardware Store, 1300 N. State St. in Fairmont. Proceeds from the sale will help with expenses for the animals at the shelter in Fairmont. Everyone is welcome.

Ruby’s Pantry plans distribution

Ruby’s Pantry will hold a food distribution from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the East Chain Evangelical Free Church, located at 507 280th Ave., rural East Chain. This will be conducted in a drive-through process. Participants will not have to get out of their cars. Participants are also asked to clean out the trunk of their vehicle prior to the event. There are no income or residency guidelines. Ruby’s Pantry is funded by the $25 cash donation per participant for operational costs. St. John Vianney to hold fall festival

St. John Vianney Catholic Church will hold its fall festival Sunday, Sept. 24, at 911 S. Prairie Ave., in Fairmont. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Festival activities will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Live music is provided by Steve Lang & Bob Petrowiak and Heart Song. They will also have vendor/craft fair, food trucks, pie and ice cream, face painting, pumpkin painting, petting zoo, hayrides, Heavenly Baskets, Cookies by the Pail and much more. Everyone is welcome.

Benefit for Rox and Jerry Richardson Sunday

A benefit brunch for Jerry and Rox Richardson will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, at the Swea City Fire Hall in Swea City, Iowa. The proceeds are to help defray expenses that the couple has incurred while dealing with medical concerns. The brunch will include: pancakes, French toast, syrup, scrambled eggs, sausage patty, juice and coffee. The meal will be a free will offering. Along with the brunch, there will be a bake sale, silent auction, 50/50 raffle and kids games. The Ledyard FBA group and Swea City Betterment Club will be selling raffle tickets for whole hogs. If you can’t attend the event, an account has been set up at Bank Plus so you can make checks payable to “The Jerry & Rox Richardson Benefit” and drop it off at any Bank Plus location including Swea City and Ledyard.
