Library plans Monday events

Martin County Library in Fairmont will hold two events on Monday. First, join library staff for Classic Movie Monday starting 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at the Fairmont Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. They will show “Vertigo.” Popcorn and water will be served. Next, join library staff for Lego Club at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at the Fairmont Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. This is for kids in grades K-6. Come, bring a friend. No registration required. All supplies are provided. For questions, call the library at (507) 238-4207.

IHD to hold board elections

Interlaken Heritage Days festival board and committee will be holding board elections starting 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in the shelter house at Gomsrud Park, Fairmont. They are currently accepting new board nominations and will also be electing Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer positions. If you would like to be on the committee, but not the board, they still strongly encourage you to attend this meeting. CER to offer upcoming community activities

Fairmont Community Education & Recreation (CER) will offer two upcoming community activities. First, Stampin’ Up Card Making Class will be held 2:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Southern MN Educational Campus (SMEC) building, 115 S. Park St. in Fairmont. Those 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult. This is a come and go event and will feature Fall, Halloween and All Occasion card designs. The instructor will have on hand the supplies and pre-cut cardstock to make 6 cards/projects that you will copy and follow designs. Please bring your own scissors and adhesive. These can be purchased at class if needed. Plan for approximately 2 hours to complete all projects. The fee for the class is $20. Registration closes September 19. Also, Baton-Twirl with the FHS Twirlers will be held 3:30-4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 and Thursday, Sept. 28, at Fairmont Elementary School, 714 Victoria St. in Fairmont. This course is for those who have participated in previous baton classes. Participants will learn the baton routines for the parade and the school theme song, then will perform during the FHS football half-time show on a date TBD. Fee for the class is $24.
