Early Risers set Wednesday meeting
Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will meet 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the Ranch Restaurant, Fairmont. Featured speaker will be Corrinna Lenort, R.D.N, new registered dietician for Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. The public is invited.
Community worship Wednesday at Sylvania Park
Enjoy some free Gran D’s popcorn, a treat, and beverage starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Sylvania Park in Fairmont, before coming to an energetic and uplifting time of music and prayer, with a short, meaningful and relatable message. Community worship services this summer will be held 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday through August 30 with a different speaker from the community featured each week. Songs will be led by an energetic praise band. Rain location will be Grace Lutheran Church. Everyone is welcome.
Spanish storytime Friday at library
Join library staff this summer for Spanish storytime. Enjoy stories and playtime starting 10 a.m. Friday, July 21 at the Martin County Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. There is no need to register and no cost to attend. With questions, call the library at (507) 238-4207.
Songs of Hope in Fairmont for the first time
On Saturday, July 22, Songs of Hope, the award-winning global concert series, is coming to Fairmont with a performance by young performers from countries around the world. Founded in 1991, Songs of Hope draws its performers to Minnesota each summer from a mix of countries, with the 2023 concert showcasing the talents of youth, aged 10 to adult, from Finland, Italy, Vietnam, Guatemala, Mexico, Jamaica, Turkey, Israel and the USA. The free concert will take place 7 p.m. Saturday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 319 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont. Suitable for audiences of all ages, everyone is welcome to come enjoy singing, dancing, and cultural dress by a high-energy, youthful company described by one music reviewer as "so much more than a choir." The Songs of Hope tour is supported in part by a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, through a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
