Service Club to hold Tuesday meeting
Fairmont Service Club will meet noon Tuesday, July 18, at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont. The program this week will feature Ron Kopischke, who will talk about protecting yourself against current frauds. The public is always welcome to join club members for these programs. Red Rock to hold local artist exhibit
Red Rock Center for the Arts is pleased to present a visual art exhibit by Cassandra Labairon of Trimont. Cassandra is a mixed media artist, poet, and professor in the English department at South Central College. Her art explores an interest in the dynamic between resources, assumption, and expectation. Her mixed media pieces combine painting and reclaimed materials, with both hand and machine stitching. Her work will be on display through August 12. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and after hours by appointment. An open house artist reception will be held 2-4 p.m. July 30. The public is invited to come and meet the artist, view her artwork, and enjoy light refreshments.
CREST Lunch & Learn Wednesday in Trimont
When the month of July comes, our focus turns to patriotism and celebrating the 4th of July. We have a lot to be thankful for when it comes to the freedoms that we enjoy. The next CREST Lunch & Learn program will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at First Lutheran Church, 61 Apple St. E. in Trimont. This month will feature a patriotic program and a lunch of brats/hotdogs, garden produce and watermelon will be served following the presentation. This activity is open to anyone in Martin County and a free-will donation is always welcome.
Fairmont Library plans Thursday activities
There will be 2 activities Thursday at the Fairmont Library. First, join library staff this summer for Totally Tweens. Enjoy tween activities starting 10 a.m. Thursday, July 20 at the Martin County Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. There is no need to register and no cost to attend. Next, join library staff for Books and Brews Morning Edition beginning 10 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at the Fairmont Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. Bring your coffee and join as library staff highlight beach reads. There is no cost to attend and registration is not required. For questions, call the library at (507) 238-4207.
