Early Risers set Wednesday meeting
Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will meet 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the Ranch Restaurant, Fairmont. Featured speaker will be Anna Mundahl, one of the new owners of Janzen’s Greenhouse, who will talk about their story. The public is invited.
Service Club encourages flag flying
Members of the Fairmont Service Club are encouraging friends and neighbors to fly their flag this summer. However, the federal flag code contains rules for handling and displaying the U.S. flag. Some important points are as follows:
• Only fly a flag which is in good condition.
• Do not fly a cotton flag in inclement weather.
• Only fly your flag when illuminated at night.
• Avoid letting the flag touch the ground.
• Fly at half mast when required for respect.

Tyler Fogelson of Fairmont was honored for having a top research poster in engineering, and Kylie Rosenau of Blue Earth was honored for having a top research poster in mathematics and statistics, during the annual Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creativity Day on April 20 at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D.
