Sportsman Club reschedules shooting event

East Chain Sportsman's Club will hold a rescheduled appreciation trap shoot event beginning noon Sunday, April 30, at the club located a half-mile north of East Chain on 254th Ave. This shoot was originally scheduled for April 16 but due to snow, it was postponed until Sunday. Free shoots all day. Bring your own shells. They will also be serving free barbecues and hotdogs for the shooters. All shooters are always welcome. Class of 1960 to lunch

Fairmont High School class of 1960, spouses and friends, will meet for lunch 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, at the Pizza Ranch in Fairmont. All classmates are encouraged to attend.

People First sets Tuesday meeting

People First will hold their next monthly meeting 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, at the Pizza Ranch in Fairmont. Sgt. Bleess will be attending to speak about safety in the community, weather/fire and cell, internet/Facebook. Firearm safety training begins next week

A 2023 spring hybrid course for Minnesota firearm safety training has been scheduled. The class will meet for five different sessions. Attendance is mandatory for ALL sessions. There is no pre-registration required. Session 1 will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, in the cafeteria at Fairmont Elementary School, 714 Victoria St., Fairmont. All students will be registered this night. Session 2 will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4, in the cafeteria at Fairmont Elementary School. Session 3 will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, in the cafeteria at Fairmont Elementary School. Lunch will be provided. Session 4 will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11, in the cafeteria at Fairmont Elementary School. Session 5 will be the practical field exam from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Fairmont Trap Club. This course is open to anyone 11 years old as of May 2, 2023 or older. The course consists of classroom training, self study, written exam and a practical field exam. Fee for the class will be $15, with $7.50 paid at registration and the remaining paid upon completion of the course. Students under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult and have a copy of their birth certificate at registration. Students will receive a Firearm Safety Certificate upon satisfactory completion of the course. It is required that all individuals born after Jan. 1, 1980, have a Firearm Safety Certificate to purchase any type of hunting license in Minnesota.
