Early childhood screening next week

Fairmont Area Schools will offer Early Childhood screenings for children born between Sept. 1, 2017, and Aug. 31, 2019, on Monday, Oct. 17, Tuesday, Oct. 18, and Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Fairmont Elementary School, 714 Victoria St. in Fairmont. Minnesota law requires that all children entering kindergarten be screened prior to the start of school. It is recommended that this screening be done around the age of 3. Appointments for ECS may be made by calling Fairmont Area Schools at (507) 235-6205 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Service Club to hold meeting Tuesday

Fairmont Service Club will meet noon Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont. The program this week will feature Lenny Tvedten, Executive Director, Martin County Historical Society. Sand art candles Thursday at library

Come to design and make your own sand art candle beginning 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Martin County Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. This event is for students in grades 7-12. All supplies are provided. For questions, call the library at (507) 238-4207.

Spice of Life meeting set Thursday

CREST’s “Spice of Life” program, where persons living with Alzheimer’s/Dementia and their caregivers can come together with others and enjoy a fun time, will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the CREST office, located at 820 Winnebago Ave. in Fairmont. This month’s activity will be “the Biggest Pumpkin Event.” There is no charge for this event, but RSVP’s are encouraged by calling (507) 235-3833.
