Sportsman Club sets shooting event

East Chain Sportsman’s Club will hold a trap shoot event beginning noon Sunday, May 15, at the club located a half-mile north of East Chain. They will be shooting practice rounds, then 16-yard and 25-yard Oakley’s and Boondocks. The grill will be on all day. For more information, contact Moby at (507) 236-4189. Everyone is welcome.

Kiwanis to hold pancake supper

Fairmont Kiwanis Early Risers will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake supper from 4:30-7 p.m. Monday, May 16, at Gomsrud Park in Fairmont. They will serve pancakes, sausage, milk, and coffee. Advanced and at the door tickets available. Proceeds to Support Kids Just Want to Have Fun projects. Old cell phone and inkjet printer cartridges will also collected. Everyone is welcome.

Valley Quilters set Monday meeting

Blue Earth Valley Quilters will hold its next meeting 7 p.m. Monday, May 16, in the Blue Earth Area High School media center. Enter through door “B” at the main entrance to the building. After introductions, ‘Show-and-Tell’ will begin followed by a short meeting to discuss upcoming events and the Quilt EXPO on Aug. 12-14. The program will be What to Pack for a Quilting Retreat by Tracy Peterson. Anyone interested in this quilting group may attend. For more information, contact Jan Shaffer at (507) 526-3979.

College News

Cora Olson of Trimont recently graduated and was awarded a B.S. degree during a commencement ceremony held May 7 at Concordia University, Nebraska in Seward, Neb.
