Service Club to hold meeting Tuesday

Fairmont Service Club will meet noon Tuesday at the Holiday Inn, Fairmont. The program this week will feature Kathy Smith, Martin County Commissioner. The public is always welcome to join club members for these programs. For more information, please call president, Don Richards at (507) 236-3161.

CER announces upcoming activities

Fairmont Community Education and Recreation will sponsor three upcoming community activities. First, a Prairie Ecology Bus Center-BioBlitz, for children entering grades 4-6, will be held 2:30-5:30 p.m. July 26 at Sylvania Park, Fairmont. This will be taught by a Prairie Ecology Bus Center naturalist. They will use citizen science to see what’s living in our area. Perfect for campers who love science, being outside, and might want to work in an environmental job in the future. Please pre-register by July 21. The cost is $32. Next, a Cardinal Football Camp for those entering grades 7-12, will be held 8-10:30 a.m. Monday, July 26 to Friday, July 30 on the practice fields at Fairmont High School. This camp is designed to develop the skills and fundamentals that will be the foundation for success in the game of football. Mat Mahoney, FHS head football coach and his staff will guide campers thru specific position coaching and drill work to bring those to the next level. Fee of $45 includes shirt. Please register with CER by July 21 to ensure receipt of shirt. Lastly, a Fairmont Cardinal youth football camp for those entering grades 4-6, will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 27 to Thursday, July 29, on the practice fields at Fairmont High School. This camp is designed for participants to have fun and become better football players. Join Mat Mahoney, FHS head football coach, and his staff as they provide instruction on football fundamentals, skills and techniques. Please register with CER by July 21 to ensure receipt of shirt.
