Welding classes begin January 9

Interested in preparing for a skilled job in welding? Fairmont Area Schools Welding Academy is offering a quality learning experience with a 60-hour welding course to teach essential welding skills from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 9. Under the direction of instructor Bob Bonin, participants will develop skills in GMAW joint welding in the flat position, horizontal position, vertical position and some overhead positions as well as perform groove weld joints and some pipe joints. Following district and state health safety protocols, face masks will be required with a maximum enrollment of 15 participants. The class is open to both youth in grades 9-12 and adults. Waiting lists and other options will be made available as class fills. A specially developed curriculum with ZOOM will be used in case of inclement weather concerns. Adults may register through Fairmont Community Education and Recreation at www.fairmontareaschools.com (under CER) or call (507) 235-3141 for information. Fee for adults is $300. Payment with MC/Visa accepted.
