Garden Club sets Wednesday meeting

City of Lakes Garden Club of Fairmont will meet 9 a.m. Wednesday at Lincoln Park in Fairmont. Those attending are asked to gather by the open shelter. The meetings are open to visitors and new members, but those interested are asked to RSVP their attendance to Leslie Walkowiak at (651) 895-6578 so adequate accommodations can be made. Those attending are asked to wear a face covering to comply with the governor’s executive order. There will be a business meeting followed by a “Demonstration of Flower Arranging for the Fair” with guest Helga Anderson. She is asking those attending to bring any fresh cut flowers from their gardens that they wish to include in their arrangements. Historical Society cancels annual meeting

Given the current pandemic and in an abundance of caution for the safety of the health of members and staff, Martin County Historical Society board of directors has decided to cancel the 2020 annual meeting scheduled for Sept. 17 at Red Rock Center in Fairmont. Kimberly Breamer and Emily Labes, both of Fairmont, were awarded master’s degrees in master teacher during commencement ceremonies held July 18 at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.
