Fairmont Chamber sets July 20 golf outing

Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual golf outing on July 20 at Rose Lake Golf Club located east of Fairmont. This is a fundraiser for Junior Achievement for grades K-6 and 8th grade, and Area Career Exploitation for 10th grade. The event is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will be a chipping contest at 12:30 p.m. or participate as your team approaches the 10th hole. They will also have hole prizes, game improvers available, and door prizes. Please register by calling (507) 235-5547.

The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the 2020 spring semester at Iowa Lakes Community College: Armstrong — Brady Anderson, Logan Nicoson; Bancroft — Brandon Zaugg; Dolliver — Makayla Secrist; Fairmont — Sarah Justice, Michelle Larson; Fenton — Kayla Potratz; Granada — Kierra Preston; St. James — Faith Mortenson; Swea City — Hailey Arndorfer, Hallie Reese; Welcome — Dawson Weber.

Austin Nunez of Jackson was awarded a bachelor’s degree in social science education (with honors), and Mari Janes of Mountain Lake was awarded a bachelor’s degree in dietetics (with honors), following the 2020 spring semester at North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D.

Talitha Burtis of Fairmont received a master’s degree in forensic science during a 2020 spring commencement ceremony at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
