Welcome Legion to host cribbage tourney
Welcome American Legion Post 553 will host a cribbage tournament Saturday. Registration will begin at 1:15 p.m.; play will start at 1:30 p.m. There is a charge. Everyone is invited. For more information, call Larry Puhrman at (507) 728-8439 (home) or (507) 236-7301 (cell).
Legion Auxiliary to host breakfast
Sherburn American Legion Auxiliary will host a pancake breakfast, made by the Sherburn Lions Club, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Sherburn American Legion. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and beverages. Donations accepted, with proceeds going to sponsoring the girls state program. Everyone is welcome. Snow date will be Jan. 26.
Dollars for Scholars plans fundraiser
Fairmont chapter of Dollars for Scholars will hold its annual chicken dinner fundraiser from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Monday at Knights of Columbus Hall, 920 E. 10th St., Fairmont. (In case of inclement weather, the date will be Jan. 27). The meal, catered by the Fairmont Pizza Ranch, will include chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, coleslaw and dinner roll. The cost is $10 per person. Take-outs available. Tickets are available at the door. Proceeds will go toward scholarships for Fairmont High School graduates.
Ruby’s Pantry plans food distribution
Ruby’s Pop-Up Pantry, a community food outreach program, will hold a food distribution Monday at the Regional Worship Center, 2 Crossroads Dr., in Sherburn. Registration begins at 5 p.m., with food distribution from 6-7:30 p.m. There are no income or residency guidelines. Ruby’s Pantry is funded by the $20 cash donation per participant for operational costs. Please bring two large boxes, totes or laundry baskets to put the food items in. Bennett Shane of Truman was named to the honors list for the 2019 fall semester at Concordia University in Seward, Neb.
