Reading of Christmas classic planned

A practice community reading of “A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas” by Charles Dickens will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at Friendship Village, 500 Home St., Fairmont. This will not be the play, but a reading of the story as written by Charles Dickens in 1843. The book, in its entirety, will be read the first week in December. People are needed to read. Total time for the reading is about 90 minutes. All donations generated from the event will be given to Heaven’s Table Food Shelf. For more information, call (507) 848-4414.

League’s fall fellowship event slated for Saturday

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) Sherburn Zone fall fellowship and service will be held Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, 122 W. Central St. in Springfield. Registration will begin 9 a.m., with the rally starting at 9:30 a.m. There will be a program about work service projects. All area women are encouraged to attend, you need not be a LWML member.
