Class of 1970 slates reunion meeting

Fairmont High School class of 1970 will hold a reunion committee meeting 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Jake’s Pizza, Fairmont. Anyone interested in helping plan the 50th high school reunion, which will take place in 2020, is welcome to attend. For more information or to offer address changes, call Leslie at (651) 895-6578.

Exchange Club to meet Tuesday

Fairmont Exchange Club will meet noon Tuesday at the Holiday Inn, Fairmont. The program this week will feature Connie Anthony from the Peterson Anthony Insurance Agency, who will talk about the pie bake at Grace Lutheran Church. Ceylon Legion Auxiliary to meet Tuesday

Nassen-Detert American Legion Auxiliary will meet 4 p.m. Tuesday in the community room at Legends II in Ceylon. The Auxiliary is urging members to attend.

Conservation Club sets Tuesday meeting

Martin County Conservation Club will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the club shelter house on North Silver Lake. The site can be reached by driving seven miles south of Fairmont on Highway 15, then taking a right on County Road 8 for 1 1/4 miles just past Hands Park. All club members and the public are welcome to attend.

Martin County Library to host Allen Eskens

Allen Eskens, best-selling author, will be available for a book talk and signing 6 p.m. Thursday at the Martin County Library, 110 N. Park St., Fairmont. Books will be available for purchase at the event. He is the author of “The Life We Bury,” “The Guise of Another,” “The Heavens May Fall,” “The Deep Dark Descending” and “The Shadows We Hide.” His books have been translated into 21 languages and his novel “The Life We Bury” is in development for a feature film. Eskens has a journalism degree from the University of Minnesota and a law degree from Hamline University. After law school, he studied creative writing in the M.F.A. program at Minnesota State-Mankato, as well as the Loft Literary Center and the Iowa Summer Writers Festival.
