Sportsman’s Club slates memorial shoot

East Chain Sportsman’s Club will hold a memorial trap shoot event in honor of Nyle Huston and Arlo Manzke at noon Sunday at the club located one-half mile north of East Chain on 254th Avenue. They will shoot practice rounds and 16-25 yard Oakley’s, Jeopardy’s and Boondocks, and regular shoots for prizes. Free barbecues and hot dogs while they last. Scholarship banquet set in Blue Earth

The 35th annual Kiwanis/First Bank Blue Earth Academic Awards & Scholarship Banquet will be held on the evening of May 10 in the school gymnasium at Blue Earth Area High School. The banquet will begin 6:30 p.m. with the program and awards ceremony to follow. Students in grades 8-12 will be recognized individually for their academic achievement by receiving academic certificates and medals. Also, the Kiwanis Club along with 20 other businesses and organizations will present financial scholarships to graduating seniors. Tickets can be purchased from the principal’s office at the high school or from any member of the Blue Earth Kiwanis Club for only $10 per ticket. Those who would like to sponsor an honor student can purchase a ticket and put their name on the back of the ticket.
