Madsen, Fox steer Jaguars to hoops victory over Raiders
NORTHROP — Carter Fox and Jackson Madsen each produced career-bests in scoring to help the Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther Jaguars plunder the Nicollet Raiders during Valley Conference basketball action Tuesday night in Northrop.
Fox collected a double-double performance of 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Madsen generated 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to pace the Jaguars’ 78-61 decision over the Raiders.
Brody Grathwohl netted 13 points for the Jaguars, while teammate Bryce Borkenhagen scored seven points and distributed five assists in GHECTML’s triumph.
Connor Martens produced 15 points and six rebounds for Nicollet, while Henry Oscarson and Henry Kennedy chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Jaguars (3-7) travel to Windom Area on Thursday night for a nonconference game.

Madelia 67, Martin County West 66 — Kaydon Firchau connected on the game-winning field goal with 8 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Blackhawks over the Mavericks during Valley Conference basketball action Tuesday night in Madelia.
Firchau finished the game with 14 points, while teammate Josiah DeMaris generated a co-game-high 20 points.
Kale Larson collected a co-game-high 20 points to complement six rebounds and four steals to top the Mavericks’ effort.
Jacob Wilmes netted 17 points and hauled down five boards for Martin County West, while Jacob Clarke chipped in 13 points.
Martin County West (1-12) plays host to St. Clair on Friday night in Trimont.

Girls Basketball
St. James Area 74, Blue Earth Area 40 — Madelyn Malmgren tossed in 21 points to power the Saints to a Big South Conference rout over the Bucs on Tuesday night in Blue Earth.
Lola Lundquist generated a game-best 23 points to top the Bucs. Lundquist also grabbed five rebounds and distributed four assists.
Katherine Armon contributed nine points and four rebounds to BEA’s effort, while Grace Schavey supplied six rebounds and three points.
Journey Swanson and Laney Bowers each scored 10 points during the Saints’ winning performance.
Blue Earth Area plays host to Waseca on Friday night in another conference contest.
