Jaguars plunder Raiders in football clash

Hunter Grathwohl

NICOLLET — Hunter Grathwohl got the job accomplished on both sides of the line of scrimmage during Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman’s football game on the road Friday night.

Grathwohl recorded two interceptions — including a second-quarter pick-6 — to complement 5 1/2 tackles to help power the Jaguars to a 48-16 triumph over the Nicollet Raiders.

The multi-tasking Grathwohl also garnered three receptions for 30 yards, including a 3-yard TD catch from quarterback Kaiden Musser, to help trigger the Jaguars’ 28-point outburst during the second segment.

Musser displayed his passing skills by connecting on 13 of 21 tosses for 145 yards and a game-best four touchdowns to pack offensive punch for the Jaguars. Musser also contributed 61 rushing yards on 10 totes.

Jackson Madsen also displayed his versatility by rushing seven times for 80 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown sprint during the fourth quarter, to generate offense for the Jaguars.

Madsen also made two catches for 32 yards, garnered a 2-point conversion pass from Musser and also threw a 2-point pass to Braden Shell.

Kayden Loeschen topped the Jaguars’ defensive effort by recording 9 1/2 tackles, including one quarterback sack, Madsen delivered seven stops, while Luke Kester contributed an interception.

Carter Brudelie pocketed five receptions for 50 yards for GHEC/Truman.

Musser threaded a 5-yard scoring strike to Kester to account for the only six points for the first frame before the Grathwohl-from-Musser connection added a TD in the second quarter. Shell then caught a 23-yard pass from Musser for another score before Loeschen crossed the goal line on a 2-yard run.

Grathwohl’s interception return for a TD and Musser’s ensuing 2-point run capped the Jaguars’ 34-0 lead by intermission.

Peyton Franzen grabbed a 5-yard scoring pass from Musser to generate the only points of the third quarter before Madsen broke loose for his 50-yard scoring gallop.

Shell then caught the 2-point throw from Madsen to close out the purple-and-black’s point production in the fourth quarter.

The Jaguars (2-1) play host to Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda at 7 p.m. Friday night in Truman.
