Fairmont 16/18U fastpitch zips St. James, 8-0

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Cardinal Power fastpitch softball lineup coasted to an 8-0 victory over St. James during 16/18U action Thursday night.

Starting pitcher Allison Janssen and closer Mandy Pytleski combined to toss a six-hit shutout. Janssen allowed four hits in four scoreless innings, striking out six and issuing five walks to earn the win.

Pytleski gave up only two hits in three shutout frames of relief, recording three strikeouts and walking three.

Pytleski and Abi Sundeen each pounded two of the Cardinals’ 12 hits. Pytleski went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI, while Sundeen finished 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored.

Jaya Johnson and Reese Olson each generated two RBIs for Fairmont by connecting for a pair of doubles. Both Johnson and Olson crossed the plate once.

Emily Muller and Chloe Miller each singled and drove in one run, with Muller also scoring a run.

Emma Gudahl and Janssen each contributed a hit and a run to the Cardinals’ winning ways, while Ilana Moeller and Makenzie Lowry each supplied a single.

Fairmont tallied a solo run in the second before erupting for seven more runs in the last of the fourth frame.
