Murphy guides Buc golfers to triangular triumph

BLUE EARTH — Nathan Murphy earned meet medalist honors by carding a nine-hole score of 39 to guide the Blue Earth Area Bucs to a triangular golf victory at Riverside Town & Country Club on Monday.

Murphy birdied the par-5 ninth hole and made a meet-high five pars to pace Blue Earth Area’s first-place total of 172, while Maple River placed second at 231 and Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman was third with 239.

Ashton Lloyd penciled in a 41, including a meet-best two birdies to go with four pars, for the Bucs, while Eli Blagg and Gordy Bruellman capped the counting marks at 45 and 47, respectively. Blagg produced two pars, while Bruellman netted one.

Nathan Goette (50) and Kyren Sunken (51), who connected for two pars, rounded out BEA’s winning ways.

Jakob Fischer fired a 56 to top the Jaguars, while Colby Brudelie connected for one par to pace a 58.

Jonah Hackett netted two pars to top a 61 for the Jaguars, while Lance Stevens capped the counting marks at 64.

Zach Flohrs (70) and Jordan Carlson (81) rounded out the Jaguars’ effort.

Nolan Walker made Maple River’s lone par en route to carding a team-leading 52.

Blue Earth Area plays Martin County West at 4:30 p.m. today at Fox Lake Golf Course near Sherburn.

Forest City 176, Bishop Garrigan 188, North Union 191 — Jack Harms shot a medalist nine-hole round of 40 to steer Forest City to a Top of Iowa Conference triangular win over Bishop Garrigan and host North Union on Monday in Armstrong.

Teagon Fothergill finished one stroke off Harms’ winning ways with a runner-up medalist score of 41 to pace the Warriors’ effort.

Parker Eichenberger supplied a 47 for North Union, Chase Cummins chipped in a 50, while Nick Schiltz carded a 53 to account for the home team’s counting marks.

Danyal Fothergill (54) and Carter Martens (56) rounded out the Warriors’ overall team performance.

Ty Dillavou and Tommy Miller each shot 45 for Forest City, while Will Heiderman tallied a 46.

Ethan Kuper penciled in a 43 to top Garrigan.

North Union travels to West Bend, Iowa, today to face host West Bend-Mallard and Algona High in another triangular.
