FAIRMONT — Martin County Area’s final regular-season home dual gymnastics meet at Live Fit Sport & Wellness Center turned into a triangular due to some last-minute rescheduling on Tuesday night.

Kayla Goblirsch swept all four individual pieces of equipment en route to capturing the all-around crown to power late entry New Ulm to a winning team total of 134.15. The Eagles’ dual meet with the Magic was originally slated for Jan. 14, but was weathered out.

Layla Keith, Camryn Lynch and Haydn Lynch claimed the respective second through fourth spots in the all-around to guide Waseca to a second-place score of 132.475, while Ellie Hernes garnered fifth overall to pace host MCA’s mark of 125.25.

“The regular season is winding down, and we’re working some new skills into our routines so that we’ll be able to hit them at section,” said Magic head coach Annie Post.

Unfortunately for MCA, only Ellie Schultze broke into the top five individual spots during the three-team competition. Schultze spun a pair of straight-legged giants on the high bar to help pace a fifth-place total of 7.625 on the uneven parallel bars.

Anna Bachenberg, who’s still recovering from injuries to both knees, finished just one spot away from the top five for the Magic on the floor exercise. The braced-up junior produced a team-best mark of 8.55 via her tumbling sequences.

Goblirsch literally stood head-and-shoulders above all of her Big South Conference rivals by generating 35.9 points to finish first in the all-around. The senior sensation sprang off the vault table for a winning total of 8.975, spun giants to highlight a first-place score of 8.4 on the unevens, displayed her power and finesse on the balance beam to net a 9.325, while flooring the floor field with a 9.2-scored performance on the judges’ scorecards.

Keith, who netted second overall with a 34.425, had to settle for runner-up honors behind Goblirsch on the vault (8.75) and beam (8.65), while tying the New Ulm phenom for first on the floor (9.2).

Camryn Lynch, who edged out family member Haydn Lynch for third in the all-around — 33.75-33.55, claimed second place behind Goblirsch on the unevens with the only other score in the 8-point range at 8.0.

Hernes topped the Magic on the vault with an 8.475, while Abi Chavez and Ava Thate each produced 8.375s. Mollie Leiding rounded out the Magic’s counting vault scores at 8.325.

Hernes followed Schultze’s top-five score for MCA with a 7.5, Hailee Schuett delivered a 6.925, while Thate posted a 6.75 to cap the home team’s counting marks on the unevens.

Schultze cleared the 8-point plateau with an 8.175 to pace MCA on the beam, with Bachenberg (7.9), Schuett (7.15) and Hernes (6.9) added scoring depth.

Hernes chipped in an 8.3 for the Magic behind Bachenberg on the floor, while Thate (8.05) and Anna Utermarck (7.875) rounded out the counting scores.

Martin County Area (4-5) travels to St. James Area on Thursday for another conference dual meet.
