10U girls hockey team finish unbeaten in district

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont 10U girls hockey team netted back-to-back wins March 13-14 at Martin County Arena to cap its undefeated district season in Fairmont.

Fairmont utilized balanced scoring and netminder Nola Hazard’s seven saves to post a 4-2 victory over Dodge County on March 14.

Halyn Haycraft, Lauren Bettin, Alexis Haycraft and Kennedy Murphy each scored one goal for Fairmont, which made 16 shots on net.

Hazard recorded 10 saves to help Fairmont generate a 3-1 triumph over Marshall on March 13 at Martin County Arena.

Alexis Haycraft, Mariel Parish and Lauren Bettin provided one goal each for Fairmont, which generated only seven shots on net.

The Fairmont 10U girls hockey team (14-3) competes in the New Prague tournament starting at 6 p.m. Friday and continues through Sunday.

Tyson Pankow generated two goals and two assists to help guide the REMAX Bantam ‘B’ hockey team to an 8-1 victory over Waseca last Friday night at Martin County Arena.

Jace Prindle collected a hat trick for the Fairmont-based team, Luke Kester netted two goals and Connor Gronewald chipped in one goal. Eric Determan, Jace Teveldal and Barret Scholl each doled out one assist.

Goaltender Ilana Moeller made 17 saves for REMAX, which travels to Winona for a season-ending four-game tournament starting at 11:15 a.m. Saturday and concluding Sunday.

The Fairmont Squirt ‘B’ hockey team lost three games recently.

Windom edged Fairmont, 2-1, on Saturday in Windom. Bennett Draper netted Fairmont’s lone goal off an assist from Ryder Thate.

The Okoboji Blizzards netted a 9-3 win over Fairmont on March 14.

Wesley Topitzhofer and Luther Malo each produced one goal and one assist for Fairmont, Hadyn Lillevold scored one goal, while Ryder Thate added an assist.

Windom squeezed out a 5-4 decision over Fairmont on March 13 in Fairmont.

Ryder Thate erupted for a game-best four goals to pace Fairmont’s effort.
